A few weeks ago, a man approached me during a wedding that Susie and I were photographing.
“That’s a first for me” he said.
I smiled politely. “Oh yeah, what?”
“I’ve never seen a photographer cry at a wedding before.”
Oh. He noticed.
It’s true. I cry at most weddings we shoot. Usually, the moment just sneaks up on me, and before I know it, I’m struggling to keep my face impassive and focus through tears.
But there’s one event that gets me every time. By now, I know, and I prepare myself beforehand.
It’s the Mother-Son dance.
Can you blame me?
