Nine. I’ve tried nine sample colors, people. If you recall, my challenge is to find a neutral paint color that’s going to work with two color schemes, one for the spring/summer, and one for the fall. Not an easy task. I’m refusing to call it impossible… but I will admit that nine sample colors without a clear winner isn’t promising :-)
The problem seems to be that the unique combination of lighting in our living room/dining room seems to make every conceivable color hideous at one time of day or another. Its as if my walls have schizophrenia – you never know what you’re going to get when moving from sunny to cloudy outside or morning to evening light.
I think I’ve finally settled on one, though, and wouldn’t you know it – its the very first one I liked? There’s a lot to be said for gut instincts :-)
In the meantime, I’ve found another source of inspiration, the e-book Handmade Walls from the completely inspiring (if not overwhelming) website The Handmade Home.
The e-book by husband and wife team Ashley and Jamin gives step-by-step instructions to creating personalized wall projects for our home. Of course, I love the fact that many of these projects are frames for precious photographs.
I also love and fully embrace the author’s philosophy, “In the process of creating pieces for your home, a transformation occurs…. you leave a personal impression… With every piece you create, you make your home yours. If your home is literally a piece of you… uniquely yours, how can you not help but love it?”
I can’t wait to get started on some of these projects! I’ll keep y’all posted :-) If you want to get your own copy, you can purchase the e-book here.
Have a great Thursday!
